These are difficult economic times and many school districts are cutting back support services. Youth need our attention and support more than ever. The Urban League of San Diego County wants to continue to build strong and effective youth development and education programs. On behalf of the Urban League, we cordially invite you to attend our Mentorship Day-Golf Outing.
This spectacular one day program will take place at noon, on Friday, July 9, 2010, at the Sycuan Resort.
Once again, our civic and community organizations will gather to raise awareness about educational issues and needs in our urban community. I know you will agree that addressing the education performance gap and preparing our youth for productive careers in the global economy is one of the most important challenges of our time. Reflecting on the Urban League’s commitment to improving education, the proceeds from this event are used to supplement the BE SMART (math and science program) and the Urban Youth Empowerment Academy.
Essentially, you and your organization will have a chance to make a positive impression on the future leadership of tomorrow while associating your brand with an important national issue. With your support, our agency can provide meaningful activities that will impact students in the community.
For example:
• Eighty-nine percent of the proceeds will go towards the actual educational programs; • A donation of $250 to the BE SMART program will support a bus to bring at risk youth on a field trip to science museum, an engineering company, or a medical institution; • $500 will provide one month of math and science materials for 50 youth; • $600 will provide funding for one student to participate in Botball Educational Robotics lesson with the BE SMART program to emphasize science and math skills;
We look forward look forward to seeing you there as we continue to spread to the gospel the “Achievement Matters” for our youth while “empowering communities and changing lives”. Thank you for supporting our efforts to provide a brighter future for the youth in our community.
